I have had so many highlights when it comes to mothering. Giving birth is a given, watching your children take their first steps... but watching my boys learn to play together for the first time is right up there with the best of them! It's so much fun to watch them chase each other around the house, or play in the tent mom made for them in the livingroom, or to just watch Jakob do the silliest little things that make Ethan just roar! Today I was getting my haircut, and Jakob loves to come with me, since the hairdresser has lego trains to play with. He builds a nice long train, being sure to use every last lego, and the rolls it on over to us, so he can be part of the conversation. He'd hear words like "California" and want to interject his two cents on the subject. But when the topic of birthing and hospital experiences came up, he said, "My mommy went to the hospital, and they took Baby Ethan out of her tummy! I love my baby Ethan. I take care of him!"
Now, don't get me wrong, they have their times of grabbing, pushing, shoving, and hitting (yes, yes, Ethan for the first time out of anger hit Jakob repeatly on the head, much to Mommy's horror! Of course, he doesn't hit hard enough to hurt, thankfully, but STILL!!! What a little sinner!)... and I know that it will continue for many years, but I hope that they will always be best friends.
I love to see how Em interacts with her little cousin. Someday maybe she will have a sibling too :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet! I want Brooklyn to have a sibling for all those reasons....even the hitting and the yelling:)It builds character as well as great stories to tell their kids.
