We were scheduled to go in for the c-section at 1pm on Tuesday the 11th. We arrived a bit late (by 10am), but we made it, got my gown on, had my IV put on by a very capable nurse this time (she got it on the first horrifically ouch-y poke) and was waiting in bed, watching the time pass on the clock in front of me. Just as the nurse was about to finish prepping me (I'll spare you the details) she got a call from the O.R. that said that they were backed up, and pushed my appointment back to 4:30pm! Now, mind you, I haven't eaten since ten pm the night before, and hunger had been setting in since 4am. I know, seems like a petty thing to be concerned about when you are about to have a baby, but I felt so nauseous! My parents, my brother Justin, of course my husband, and Nichole took turns waiting with me- talking laughing and playing cards. By the time they came to take me into the operating room, I felt HORRIBLE! I got extremely over-heated, I felt my heart pounding in my chest and so week from not eating. I almost wanted to scream- "STOP, I CAN'T DO THIS RIGHT NOW!" It was a horrible feeling. But by the time they gave me the anesthesia, I calmed down and was able to focus on the baby that would soon be in my arms. All I can say is- it was SO worth every moment!
From the moment I saw him- I was in love! It was so amazing seeing him for the first time and I was so surprised at how much he looks like Jakob when he was a baby.
We named him Ethan Michael. Actually, daddy named him. All the names on our 'list' didn't suit him. So Jason got 2 baby name books from the nurse's station, and we started to look. Even though Ethan was never on any of our lists, he is Ethan. Our little man.
He has been such a good baby. The only time he cries is if he's hungry or getting his diaper changed. He's been eating every 3 hours and 4 or 5 stretches at night.
Jakob loves his little brother. I'm so happy and praising God for this! You never really know how they are going to react, but he loves little "Efan" so much. He loves to give him kisses and hugs, and saw "Ah, he's so adorable!" or "I'm so excited about my brother!".
Jason, "Nama" and I love to sit and watch the cute little newborn faces that Ethan makes. He's so entertaining! Today (at 1 week old) he's even been making content smiles.
I can't wait for everyone to meet him!
