They scariest part was when they gave him a nitroglycerin (sp?) tablet to slow his rapid heart beat down. Well, he had a reaction to it and it rapidly dropped his heart rate from 120+ down to 30!!! Doctors/nurses/EMT's came in, the stuck defibrillator patches on (just in case) and hooked him up to a drip to flush out the pill. It was so scary hearing the doctor say to my dad "keep talking to me, keep talking to me". Thankfully they didn't need to us the defibrillator, and they were able to get it back up. Ahhh.... talk about an emotionally exhausted experience.
The next day, once they had talked to the cardiologist, they found out that one of his main arteries on the left side of his heart was 95-99% blocked. So he basically had what some doctor's call a minor heart attack, and others call it the precursor to a major heart attack. Thankfully we got him in to the ER when we did.... So he had a cath put up into his heart and they put a stint in. He is now home and resting.
We are so blessed to have so many people praying and coming to visit my dad in the hospital, and come check and see if we needed anything. Thanks be to God!!!
That is so scary! I am so happy that he is alright:)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that your dad is okay! It's so scary when something happens to a parent. And congrats on raising such a big boy!
