Our family started doing a "Thankful Tree" on Thanksgiving a few years ago. I got the idea from one of my best friends. I saw it on her wall, and loved the idea. It is a great way to get the kids involved in thinking of things that they are thankful for.
This year we did it with my family at the Thanksgiving table, and gave the kids 3 hand-print leaves, and 2 leaves to all the adults, including Papa! (Usually with just our little family we do 5 leaves each.) It was fun to have everyone involved, especially listening to what the kids think of.
I cut the trunk out of brown construction paper, and then use bright colors for the leaves. It's so easy to make.
Last year, with Jason's family, we went out and got an actual branch, stuck it in a pot with foam, and covered the top with brown fabric. Then we just attached our construction paper leaves onto the branches. Was very cute!
