Merry Christmas 2009

Merry Christmas 2009!

Our Christmas newsletter is going cyber this year! Our Christmas cards (well most of them) have been dropped in the mailbox, and this has given me an extra week (or two) to write this. :) It is Christmas Eve, and we had a fun night celebrating Christmas with my family, then went to watch the annual local pyrotechnics Christmas Eve fireworks. (Jakob and his cousin Raeme, as is typical of them, didn't like them at all, and Ethan and my other niece, Sadie, loved it!!) Now I sit, alone in my room, while Jason wraps my presents. :) A good time to catch you up on our year, though!

Our family has been loving life in Leavenworth this year! Going to the river in the summer to splash around, swimming at the pool, going for walks to get ice cream downtown, going to all of our town's fun festivities... and watching our little boys grow up!

Ethan loves to laugh, and make people laugh. He is very dramatic- is either very happy, laughing, and teasing... or grumpy and clingy! He follows in his brother's footsteps and already knows how to work the iPhone, turn the volume up on the computer, rewind to the beginning of "Hot Chocolate" (A scene in his favorite movie, "Polar Express"), and replay the song "Hot Chocolate" on the computer.
Two weeks ago we celebrated Ethan's 2nd birthday! It was only appropriate that we do a Polar Express theme (blog to follow) and all the kids loved it.
He has been such a joy to us. He is such a little monkey- always climbing on things and getting into trouble faster than I can keep up with, almost. I put him in gymnastics a couple months ago, after seeing what a monkey he was, and he loves it! He loves to jump on the trampoline, ride on the "horsey", and getting a stamp when we're all done. He does a great job, and is learning to stick it (FREEZE, HANDS ON KNEES!). It's so fun to have a special Ethan and Mommy playtime every week.

Jakob is growing up so fast! He is so smart- his brain is always on! I can't believe that he will be 5 next month! He still loves Combine Harvesters and swears he is going to be a farmer some day. This should be interesting.
A few Sunday's ago he performed in our church's Christmas children's choir. He was very nervous, but did a great job. Even though he sang so quiet no one could hear him. We are very proud of him. I have started working on reading with him. He can already read simple books, like the BOB books (great for beginning readers!). Next year we are planning starting year one of homeschooling!
Jakob has such a kind heart! He loves to help Mommy around the house, tell me I look beautiful, and tell Ethan that he loves him. He is a joy to have around!
He also got the privilege of being a ring bearer in Uncle Justin's wedding last month! He did a great job, and says he wants to be a ring bearer again (though you'd never think so by the look on his face!!).

Jason has been keeping very busy these days with work. Of course, it is the busy season. Thankfully there is not much snow yet (much to my dismay- I'd at least like it to snow for Christmas!!) so he hasn't had to do much shoveling and clearing walkways to the houses. He loves to play with his boys, wrestle and watch cartoons.
Jason has been getting more involved at church, helping with sound. He is so great with technology- he fits right in.

As for me, I am enjoying being a Mom and taking care of our boys. It's so much fun to watch them learn and grow. I help out at my dad's office once a week or so, and I have been taking more pictures this year as well. I would love to do more photography, as much as I can with the kids. (You can see some of my work on my flickr page.)
On Thanksgiving we found out the biggest news of the year- our 3rd little bundle is expected the end of July! We are thrilled, and are excited to see if we will be a family of boys, or mix it up with a little girl! :)

We hope that tomorrow brings family, friends, and merry making, as we celebrate Christ's birth. May we never loose sight of the true meaning of Christmas!

Much love,

Sarah, Jason, Jakob and Ethan
