Priorities

I am not much of a reader. I really want to be. Even with novels, it's hard for me to pick up a book and start reading it. Although once I start reading a novel it's easier for me to get into it and read the whole thing... even the whole series. The one type of book that I can really get into, and devour is biographies- like Jenny McCarthy's Louder Than Words (although I don't like her language at times, the whole autism/vaccination thing really captures my attention) or Multiple Blessings by Kate Gosselin (before all their drama).
There are a ton of books sitting by my table that I know that I need to get into and finish reading Books that I have started, but never finished.
Unfortunately, what stops me is our horrible habit of putting the kids to bed and being so exhausted from the busy day, that we plop on the couch and turn on the t.v. or watch a movie. (At least we do it together, right?)
Well, I have been dealing with a guilty conscience, knowing how much time I am wasting not only for my life, but for my kid's lives as well. Well, I'm tired of procrastinating, and so I came up with a plan to help me get started:

After we put the kids to bed, before we turn on the T.V., I'm going to my bedroom, pick up one of the many books that I've been needing, and wanting, to finish, and read at least ONE chapter.

Here are the two books that I'm starting with:

Hopefully this will be a good push in the right direction.

  1. I know what you mean about having a hard time picking up a book. I do the same thing. Struggle to pick it up but then once I do I can't put it down. Hope you enjoy your new reads

  2. I would suggest a really good story to get you started. I find it hard just to sit still and focus with the to do list looming. Reading is worth the effort, and Ted Tripp has some good stuff. Good luck!
